Apple II Mid-Screen Mode Switching

Like other 8-bit computers, you can "race the beam" on Apple II machines and switch graphics/text modes mid-screen to make some interesting effects.

This will work on all models of Apple II, but it wasn't a commonly used effect back in the day. This was at least in part because it can be difficult to find the start of the VBLANK interval. The other main problem is there are no hardware timers on the Apple II so you generally have to manually cycle count everything.
