Day 17 - Au Gres MI to Ithaca NY
Day 17 - 3 July 2006 - Monday
--- Starting near Au Gres, Michigan ---
We slept in a bit this day, then got up for a delicious breakfast of
waffles, and then enjoyed the beach.
Kristina and I went kayaking for a while:
My favorite activity was looking in the water for rocks:
I was looking for
Petoskey Stones, the state stone of Michigan. I found a few:
The patterns you see on them are fossilized coral.
Sadly, we had to leave, as we wanted to be back to Ithaca
that evening.
We drove on to Port Huron, and then crossed into Canada.
--- Entering Ontario, Canada ---
The trip across Canada was uneventful, and we crossed into the US
at Lockport, where there was no traffic at all for us (a lot
of people were crossing back into Canada due to the Canada Day long weekend).
--- Entering New York ---
We stopped briefly in Buffalo to check on the house there, and then
drove in the dark to Ithaca. It was super humid, and we got
there too late to see the fireworks. We got in later
and more or less collapsed and fell asleep.
--- Ending in Ithaca, New York ---
The end of the trip...
