Kristina and I decided to stay close to home, and instead explored
the Fall Creek Gorge at Cornell. One of the two gorges on the Cornell
campus, it is above Ithaca Falls and below
Triphammer Falls.
This turns out to be a dangerous spot; it the past 2 weeks two people have
died here. They were swimming though, Kristina and I stayed safely on the
shore.
Here's one waterfall seen from the Stewart Avenue bridge:
After climbing down a lot of steps to the bottom, here is yet
another waterfall. You can see the suspension bridge high above,
and right above the falls here is a small hydro-electric plant.
This picture was taken on nearly the exact same spot as one I took
on my first trip to Ithaca,
three years ago:
At this point my camera ran out of batteries, and I had forgotten to bring the
new rechargable ones we had just obtained! So no more pictures from
that trip.
In an unrelated note, here's a picture of part of our deck garden that
I took this rainy Saturday. In
the center you'll see the lone yellow flower on our catelope vine.
This plants have had a hard life; we were gone for 3 weeks
in the summer, during which there was intense rain that overflowed the
gutters and pounded all of the soil out of the pots. So it's a wonder
we have anything living at all...
