Track 1 Continued - Yosemite
Day 5 - 21 June 2006 - Wednesday
They made such good progress on the way out, they had time to see
Yosemite National Park (which Kristina and I had been to
(last May).
They started out in a scenic part of Nevada... Nevada actually means
"snow-capped", as you can see in this picture:
--- Entering California ---
They got to California, and crossed the Tioga Pass
(the highest in California!), which had been
closed when we were last here:
They were now at Yosemite National
Park, enjoying the scenery of this particular entrance.
Their first stop was the Tuolumne Sequoia Grove
("grove" in the sense that there were two
at the end of a steep mile long trail :P):
They then went down to the Yosemite Valley. Here is Bridal Veil Falls
(where the best view is from the parking lot
:P):
And here is Yosemite Falls (
Artistically framed between two trees... :P):
They were running out of time, but Kristina and Jen ran
(literally, up a huge hill... we almost died) to see
Vernal Falls. Kristina really liked the rapids on the river:
Here is a crazy squirrel they saw that was smiling at them
(No, we didn't photoship him in):
Kristina likes when rapids happen in forests:
Looming above it all is of course Half Dome:
They saw a coyote:
But then it was time to leave. Luckily the route they wanted to take
wasn't the one closed by the giant landslide, and so they drove
to Oakland (right past Livermore where I spent last summer),
checked into the hotel room, and went to the airport
to pick up me and their dad.
See what Vince was up to the first 5 days
or
On to Day 6...
