On the way to Bash Bish Falls
On Good Friday we set off North. We went through toll after toll, including
approximately 5000 $.35 tolls on the Garden State Parkway.
Near Newark we passed the "highest water-sphere in the world" [alas
no picture or useful link can be found online].
After getting to New York state we headed off into the Taconic mountains,
and parked just short of the border. Then we walked to Massachusetts.
The stream you walk along is crystal clear with this amazing blue color.
Luckily on this trip all the waterfalls were full because of all the rain
and snow melt. So after what seemed like hours of hiking up-hill we came to
Bash Bish Falls.
A very pretty waterfall. Instead of having a map on the info board
the park area had this big bunch of newspaper clippings full of "16 year old
girl plunges to death at falls" type headlines. Despite this we drove
upstream and also looked around from right above the falls, carefully
heeding the "$200 fine for going beyond this point" signs.
