Late December 2007
It's late December, time to start baking! Especially with the excessively
snowy weather we've been having here in Ithaca. It makes up for the
complete last of snow last year this time.
First, we make peanut-butter balls (dipped in chocolate). For those
of you from the Midwest, yes they are vaguely similar to buckeyes, but
not exactly.
Outside there were tracks indicating velociraptors had been at the
neighbors bird feeder! You can't tell from the picture, but the prints
are like 6" across!
But of course, there are much less interesting explanations:
Next up for baking: cookies!
Here are my favorites. See if you can find the old-school Apple Computer
logo, the alien-bear, and the evil gingerbread man. The veins on the
leaves were done by Joanna, who took a break from studying to help out.
We went to my Grandmother's traditional get together at the Inn 94.
Kristina and I drove direct, and then back to Ithaca, which ended up being
a lot of driving.
I'm not going to dignify this picture with an explanation:
We left for home straight into a major winter storm. It was mostly sleet,
which was surprisingly easy to drive through. There aren't many people on
the road at 1am in an ice storm. We made it back to Ithaca, when the
electrical system of my car decided to give up. The last mile or two
was a bit nerve-wracking, but we just barely made it to our apartment.
The storm was originally being hyped by the news for being "up to 24 inches
of snow". Here's what we got in the end:
